6 Pan-Only Eyeshadow Brands Adorning Zero Waste. Part 2 Buyer's Guide
I get commissions for purchases made through some of the links in this post <---Since I wrote over 100 emails to create this eyeshadow post, I have a warped brain for not ensuring every link was an affiliate, but I've gotta choose content over money because, duh, I freaking love you for reading my hard work.
Third party trademarks and images are the property of their respective owners.
One of my favorite "rules" in life is to never take yourself too seriously, but ingredients I put on my face and near my eyeballs are one of those cold sobering facts I'm not willing to overlook.
In an effort to avoid blindly falling in line with trendy buzzwords, I have included links to literature and short reasons for why all eyeshadows showcased in Part 1 and Part 2 avoid certain ingredients in their formulations. All eyeshadows are what we'll call "three-free" of the following three ingredients:
1. Talc-Free : Although the concerns surrounding the safety of asbestos-free talc are controversial, all of the brands I showcase in the pan-only eyeshadow posts are talc-free. After getting the facts regarding cosmetic talc from the FDA and the American Cancer Society, decide for yourself what you're comfortable wearing. If after educating yourself you decide you're okay with talc, two pan-only eyeshadow brands to spy are Couleur Caramel and Kjaer Weis. (From what I can tell from relevant scientific studies, a good rule of thumb is to avoid wearing talc-containing eyeshadows on and/or near your genitals). I'm not sure if people put eyeshadow down yonder, but if they do, now they've been officially warned by me--keep talc-containing eyeshadow away from your bonch, queen bees. All that crotch-talk circles back to the point that there are no talc-containing eyeshadows spotlighted here.
2. All eyeshadows in Part 1 and Part 2 are Phthalates-free. A group of experts from the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Health Organization wrote a joint assessment calling hormone disruptors, including phthalates, a "global threat". Furthermore, since there are types of phthalates that have affected reproductive systems of laboratory animals, companies can keep those phthalates away from this human-animal until we have more conclusive studies.
3. Parabens: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state that:
Females had several-fold higher concentrations of methylparaben and propylparabens than males, which likely reflect the greater use of products containing parabens. But the CDC wants you to know that, [f]inding a measurable amount of parabens in urine does not imply that they cause an adverse health effect.
Step aside asparagus, there's a new infamous urine in town! Whether adverse health effects are yet to be determined, what I've thoughtfully dubbed as "paraben pee" appears unnecessary. Hence, all pan-only eyeshadows featured in Part 1 and Part 2 make our lives easier by not containing parabens at all.
Now that we're educated about three ingredients to avoid, it's time for Part 2!

When buying here you get to deal directly with the owner whose attributes my late grandmother would describe as "the salt of the earth". She's as honest as they come. We may as well call her "Honest Abe", but maybe it's more apropos to call her "Honest Babe". Plus, her eyeshadows are no joke. The formula features 6 different herbs and the rice powder/silica blend sets the stage for highly pigmented, long-wearing bliss.
